Charges filed in officer-involved shooting in Wildwood | West County News

On April 23, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed charges against Cole Reynolds, a 32-year-old suspect from the 18700 block of Wild Horse Farm Court in Wildwood, for unlawful use of a weapon. Reynolds is currently detained with a $500,000 cash-only bond and no 10% option.

On April 22, St. Louis County police responded to a domestic disturbance call at the 18700 block of Wild Horse Farm Court. Dispatch records indicated the suspect was armed with a firearm, which the suspect’s father had already disarmed by removing the magazine.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the suspect’s father outside the home. While engaged in this conversation, the suspect exited the residence with a firearm tucked in his waistband. He yelled at police, claiming to be a federal agent and demanding they drop to the ground.

The suspect then allegedly drew the firearm from his waistband and aimed it at one of the officers. The weapon, equipped with a red laser sight, was visibly pointed at the officer. In response, one officer discharged his service weapon, striking the suspect once in the neck area. Officers subdued Reynolds and provided medical assistance before transporting him to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer involved is 32 years old and has 10 years of law enforcement experience.

Officers recovered a 9mm handgun at the scene with a live round still chambered.

During medical care, Reynolds repeatedly claimed to be a CIA federal agent. Witnesses reported to police that the suspect has a history of mental health issues. The St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is conducting the ongoing investigation. Authorities note that details remain preliminary and subject to change. Reynolds is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Anyone with additional information should contact the St. Louis County Police Department at (636) 529-8210.
