National Charities and Voluntary Organisations Survey 2015

Take part in the biggest annual survey of charities and voluntary organisations. The survey, launched by a coalition of charities, is gathering evidence about how charities are able to get their voice heard and the support they need.

By taking part you will be helping make sure that funders and decision makers know more about your needs. By being the biggest survey of charities and voluntary organisations this survey is a powerful way of getting your voice heard.

VCSE Review - Second Phase of Consultation Launched

The second phase of the major review of partnerships and investment in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector is now underway, with people and organisations involved in promoting health, wellbeing and social care invited to respond. 

The review was launched by the Department of Health, Public Health England and NHS England and is now consulting on options for policy and practice changes to help develop final recommendations.

Two elements are being explored in the review:

2016 GSK IMPACT Awards - Core funding and free training for health charities

GSK’s IMPACT Awards reward charities that are doing excellent work to improve people’s health. Organisations must be at least three years old, working in a health-related field in the UK, with income between £25,000 and £2 million. Up to 20 awards will be made ranging from £3,000 to £40,000 plus free training valued at up to £6,000. Organisations will also have a film made, receive help with press and publicity and be given a set of promotional materials.

Draft PHE briefing on ethnicity and health – comments invited

There are wide gaps in health status between different ethnic groups in England. However the picture is complex and there are many possible causes of these inequalities.

Local Government Association latest publication on English devolution: local solutions for a healthy nation

The LGA is calling for more devolution to local areas, which can bring economic, political and social benefits to communities across the country. This publication was commissioned by the Local Government Association (LGA) to capture the thoughts of councillors, directors of public health, providers, commissioners, academics and other key opinion formers on the challenges and opportunities Devolution could bring in terms of improving the public’s health.

Survey launched: Is the NHS Standard Contract a barrier to commissioning VCSE organisations?

We have been told that VCSE organisations find the NHS Standard Contract a barrier to having their services commissioned by the NHS. Consequently NHS chief, Simon Stevens, committed to exploring a shorter version of the NHS Standard Contract for low-value contracts, in the NHS Five Year Forward View. Regional Voices, working with NHS England, is carrying out this survey to help understand specific issues which organisations have experienced in using the NHS Standard Contract. We expect the survey to take no more than 15 minutes.

Survey for health and wellbeing board reps on public health commissioning

Local Healthwatch and voluntary, community sector and social enterprise (VCSE) members of Health and Wellbeing Boards are invited to take part in an online survey as part of a research project funded through the Department of Health Policy Research Programme. The project is entitled ‘Commissioning public health services: the impact of the health reforms on access, health inequalities and innovation in service provision’ and is designed to assess the impact of transferring public health responsibilities to local government from April 2013.
